What’s a not-for-profit pharmacy?

Unlike other pharmacies which are owned and operated by pharmacists (or a partnership of pharmacists and large corporations), Community Care Chemist is one of the few pharmacies in Australia that adopt the ‘friendly society’ model.

This means Community Care Chemist is a mutual, not-for-profit company that serves our members and customers. Our business structure requires that surplus funds or profits be reinvested back into our organisation and local community, and that our members contribute to a common fund; via our $1 for life membership fee.

By becoming a member, and with your ongoing support (by shopping in-store), you ensure that we can continue to contribute to the communities in which we operate.

Community Care Chemist are proud to be Geelong’s only local, not-for-profit pharmacy.

We give back to our community through active partnerships and donations with organisations across Geelong who are focused on health, wellbeing and supporting the vulnerable members of our community.
